Valleymount GAA Club will be holding our biggest ever fundraising event in the form of a Lip Sync Battle on Saturday 12th November 2016 taking place in St Laurence’s GAA Club in Co. Kildare. For those of you wondering what Lip Sync Battle entails it involves each of our thirteen participating teams miming and dancing their way in costume through some well-known songs both past and present in the hope of impressing both judges and audience alike with their smooth moves and expert lip sync skills. The show will start at 7:30pm and tickets are priced at €20.
We will also be producing a commemorative programme of the evenings events so if there is anyone wishing to place an advertisement in the booklet please do not hesitate to contact any member of our Lip Sync Committee, Janet (0879089265) Mags (0879158546). In the run up to the big night itself, each of the thirteen teams will be raising their own sponsorship by running a series of individual fundraising events and these will be advertised locally as well as on our Facebook page so please keep an eye out for upcoming events and lend your support to all the lads. Fundraising is already underway with Liam and Aislinn’s hair raising barbershop night in the clubhouse recently and it proved a successful start to proceedings.
At present we do not have all planned events available to us but keep the following dates in mind: 10th September there is a car wash in Valleymount GAA Pitch from 10am – 5pm, €5 per car. This is being run by Joey Miley, Jimmy Byrne, Larry O’Brien and Eddie Reid. Next up we have Audrey Cahill, Caroline Cahill, Noreen O’Connor and Jack Reid have two dates for your diary. Firstly on 24th September, they are running a sing-a-thon in Cullen’s pub Ballyknockan from 8pm and also they are organising a mini lip-sync fancy dress party for the kids on Friday 28th October as the break for the mid-term. Saturday 1st October sees two events take place. In the day time, Liam Reid is doing a bag pack in Super Value Blessington. Later on that night, Keiv Leonard and Brian Flynn will be running a table quiz and raffle in the West Wicklow House in Blessington. The following week, Saturday 8th October, Donal Cullen is organising a day of clay pigeon shooting followed by a night of craic In Cullen’s pub Ballyknockan. Erin Duke’s team will be running an event on 16th October, details to follow. The Cahill’s a.k.a the Spice Boys will be running a social night on 22nd October, again more details to follow. Finally for now, Team Mute Us (Shane Carroll, Rachel Fitzpatrick, Stacey Balfe) will be running a fancy dress night in O’Connors in Valleymount on 29th October. There will be live music, a monster raffle and a pig on a spit! Tickets will be €15.
The official launch of Valleymount GAA Lip Sync Battle will take place on Saturday 17th September in Cullen’s pub Ballyknockan. Admission is €5 and includes food and music on the night. We will be introducing the teams and their chosen acts on the night so come on up to Ballyknockan for what is sure to be a great night.
So we would ask you all to please give your support to our Lip Sync Battle and our very brave volunteers. It’s sure to be something a little bit different and promises to be a great night out. Funds raised will be used to continue the development of the grounds at Valleymount GAA Club and the installation of a second playing pitch in order to provide the best possible facilities for future generations. We are a small community and the GAA club grounds are there for everyone to enjoy so please come out and support all involved.
